Solidarity Week

In Maristes Lleida every year we organise several events. We start with a music festival, where some students prepare songs, and the ticket is used to raise money for charity.

During the week there are some other events but the best is the "Hunger Lunch".

This day every student of the school pays a symbolic price to eat a frankfurt or cheese sandwich.

The older students organise a treasure hunt and when the children finish eating they play and get fun. They paint a mural in the wall and sometimes we do water wars.

The raised money is given to a NGO which builds schools in poor countries.

Halloween

Halloween is a party that is celebrated the 31st of October. It's the night of ghosts and witches.

In this date, the tradition is to clear pumpkins, give them a face shape and put a candle inside it.

The children dress up and go to the houses asking for sweets and they say 'Trick or treat'. If the people don't give them sweets they throw eggs to the house.

In Catalonia there is another tradition in the same date: Eat chestnuts and 'panellets'.

The 1st of November people go to the cementery to visit their relatives that are dead and bring them flowers.
